Webinar: balancing investment risk with opportunities in 2024
This webinar was hosted by Thomas Becket and Richard Champion and originally published by CGWM.
Despite an extremely turbulent and ultimately difficult 2023, the final two months of the year proved positive for investors. Inflation decreased, central banks put a hold on further interest rate hikes, and there was reason to feel hopeful about investment opportunities in the new year.
As we step into 2024, there are a range of factors for us to consider when shaping our asset allocation, particularly when looking at the long-term investment success of our client portfolios.
In our latest market update, recorded on 11 January, our Co-Chief Investment Officers, Richard Champion and Thomas Becket, came together to discuss their thoughts on the ever-evolving global economy – the key events of 2023 that got us here and where they believe the key investment opportunities lie in the new year.
They explore:
- The factors that created a positive outcome for the markets in November and December
- The opportunities that can be found in fixed income investments
- When central banks might start to reduce interest rates
- Whether the ongoing geopolitical issues will de-rail the recent market recovery.
