Webinar: how recent market uncertainty and the current economic outlook can offer attractive investment opportunities

23 October 2023 in Investing, Latest investment outlook

“The investment outlook is much better than expected”

Even with the backdrop of conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine and continuing uncertainty around inflation and interest rates, the market and economic outlook still offers attractive investment opportunities.

Favourable asset or company valuations are now setting us up for better future returns, and the general consensus is that a global recession should be avoided as the US economy slows, offset by an upsurge in the Chinese economy.

In our latest market update, recorded on 16 October, our Co-Chief Investment Officers, Richard Champion and Thomas Becket, came together to discuss their thoughts on the ever-evolving global economy – and how market volatility has had a positive impact for investors, as it enables us to take advantage of lower asset valuations.

They explore:

  • If you should switch assets into cash during this period of higher interest rates
  • Why fixed interest (often referred to as investing in bonds) can still offer positive returns for many investors, after years of low and even negative  returns
  • When they believe core inflation and interest rates will subside
  • How recent market turbulence can create investment opportunities.
